At Century Services Heating & Cooling Experts
, we recommend your system be serviced and cleaned every six months to a year. This is a great way to catch minor problems before they become major problems.
Our technicians clean the indoor and outdoor coils as needed, check all electrical components and check the refrigerant pressures
. A clogged coil can cause the system to not run at its best performance, leading to higher power bills and less comfort in the home. If refrigerant pressures are not correct it can cause the system to struggle to maintain the desired temperature, causing higher power bills or compressor failure
Be sure to clean or change your air filter at least once a month, and always use the proper size for your unit. It is also important to keep your outside unit clear of debris to avoid blocking air flow.
If your system is over ten years old, it may be time to consider purchasing a new unit. The higher the SEER Rating (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) means greater efficiency. There are a variety of rebates and promotions for purchasing high SEER equipment and the energy savings will be noticeable on your power bill.Contact our team

During the defrost cycle, the outdoor unit motor and fan will stop and the compressor will continue to run. You will see steam coming from the top of the outdoor unit and your system will switch to auxiliary heat and you will see the auxiliary display on your T-Stat. The defrost cycle shouldn't take more than about 15 minutes, but, if it takes longer, give us a call.
